Entry: lazy days of summer Thursday, July 19, 2007

Wow!  July is a flyin by on me!  For the mostpart, we have been taking one day at a time, making plans right before we do something.  It's kind of antisocial, but we've mostly just been doing our own thing, going to parks or the neighborhood pool.  We did meet another five year old girl the other day (at the pool), with a mother named Colleen!  Last week, though, we met up with fellow blogging mother, Laura, and her daughter at a local sprinkler park.  That was fun!  Lauren, of course, spent much of her time at the sand area, but fortunately I could view both her and Rachel simultaneously.  But, like I said, we haven't been planning too many activities lately.  With Ken working at home, I don't feel like I can host a 'playdate', so it always means meeting out somewhere.  At the same time, though, it's often hard to get the girls out the door unless there has been something planned.  It doesn't help that they have been sleeping in---not that I'm complaining!  We all have been sleeping in, including Ken.  He's supposed to start work at 8:30.  Lately he's been rolling out of bed at 8:20 or so!  Luckily it's not a tough commute!  Ha Ha!  We make lame jokes like that all the time.  Guess we're all feeling lazy.  That's about when one of the girls will wake up, with the other getting up a little before 9:00.  It's great compared to the 7:00 am start up time in the winter months!  As much as I've been enjoying the extra zzz, I just know fall is going to be tough.  If Rachel gets am kindergarten, we'll be taking/walking her to school around 8:40 or so.  Two mornings a week we will need to get Lauren to pre-school at 8:15--OUCH!  I'm trying not to think of that too much.  Why spoil the lazy days of summer?  Hope your summer is going well!

Our summers sound so much alike...especially the part about meeting fellow bloggers at the sprinkler park! ;)

But seriously, I am also dreading the early wake-ups in the Fall, as we have all been sleeping in until 9 a.m. I also feel like we have to have 'real' plans most of the time, although lately I'm getting to the stage where hanging out in the backyard is just fine and dandy, too.

We'll have to hit the sprinklers again before the summer is over!

That commute to the computer in the other room - it's a rough one - got to swing by the kitchen for OJ and coffee. And maybe a croissant. But as tough as my commute might be, it's tougher for Ken because your kitchen requires going DOWN the stairs and THEN BACK up the stairs to the office. I just roam out one door of the bedroom to kitchen and then back down the hall to the computer.
